Whisk - Epresso Bar + Bake Shop @ Empire Subang

A Coffee Lover's journey finding a great coffee

for those who love coffee and the sweet tooth, this is the right spot to have both. i had the opportunity to "have" but not to "enjoy" the coffee and cake due to the following reasons"
1- just had a super heavy lunch
2- uncomfortable attire and small sitting area

but if i came with a mind set just to have a coffee and the cake or cakes, i am sure, i would be delightful and crazy over it.especially, having it over the weekend. but, since we were having a business talk, i can't concentrate on the coffee too much, just had a vivid memory on the coffee and cakes.

i got myself a cappuccino, hot, as usual. i didn't realise, the cup is small, might be 4-6 oz size.  the taste of the espresso was strong, might be due to the size of the cup or it just of the proportion made by the barista. steamed milk portion, just nice, not exceed one-third of the  total ingredient. milk foam - just nice with a design of er...em.. something on the foam.. usually barista will create a love foam or leave foam, some, no design at all.. taste wise, wow wow, awesome (can i use this word).. it is the best coffee since mc cafe cappuccino (mcdonald actually use one of the best coffee bean/types of coffee in the world or at least in rawang and kl). starbuck, bye bye.. you are nothing just a commercial coffee to meet the lifestyle of wannabe peps.. (eh, am i one of them)..

additional info: you can ask for an extra shot (strong) or a mild one.. usually, people will opt for mild but if u are a coffee drinker, u will opt for stronger one.. you know the taste right

for a cake, i got a red velvet which i shared it with Madam I. even on sharing basis, we were still unable to finish it. what a waste. luckily, can tapau (packed). and the pack is not a normal polystyrene types but instead a more environmental friendly one. red velvet as being claim by most food critics are their best selling cakes. yup, it is one. very2 sweet. pix with a taste of sour in every layer (not sure what it is since i didnt bake cake), with a not so generous portion of frosting (the cheezy layer), i love red velvet or RV as being called by the fan of RV, so an extra frosting would really make my day. sour and sweet. zasss. perfecto!!

and the rest chose piccolo latte and a latte plus a humming bird cake (no bird was slaughter or left singing on the cake).

humming bird cake, at a first glance, look like a banana cake but with a frosting and extra ingredient in it. taste wise, as sweet as the RV. i think every single bakes in the house are all sweet. so, get yourself ready before ordering their cakes.

latte was served in a cup instead of glass. mc cafe serve it in a glass. but if a cup doesnt bother your drink, than walla..just enjoy it.. most of my friend preferred latte. i can't recall on the taste. i might have tried once. but i prefer cappuccino than latte because the latte proportion contains 1/3 espresso (same like cappuccino), but with 2/3 of heated milk about a com foam. it looks more attractive in term of appearance than a cappuccino which was serve in a covered cup. but due to more milky milky taste in it, i opt for cappuccino. so, proportion and serving are equally important to me.

i read that last time, a latte was supposed to be 2/3 espresso + 1/3 steam milk but one famous coffee chain has commercialised theirs which changes in mixture has clouded the mind and taste of every coffee drinker in the world. so, i hate u *** for making my coffee less coffee.

Latte

Latte
Madam I had a piccolo latte. that was the first time i encounter a coffee called piccolo latte. usually it is a latte or cafe latte. this one sound like so italian latte. not sure how it tasted but perhaps something heavier than the normal latte, thats all.. so i would like to have it a try one day.
Picolo Latte

talking about the nicest and delicious thing, we come to the money matters time. a cup of coffee is sold between rm10 to rm11 (for cappuccino and latte only). cakes rm11.50 per slice. quite pricey for me since the serving is small for coffee and equally big for the cakes as compared to secret recipe.

ambience: not that cosy, not so kopitiam, it's more chillax style, not like starbuck and coffee been or dome, it's something like a small cafe in Italy besides surrounded with outlets, jaya grocery etc. shop was quiet small, went there after 2pm, but still pack with guest, luckily, a nice lady was so kind to move to a table just outside the shop to let us have the bar-style seats. well, i prefer a lil bit high seat to match my sitting posture.

service: average. since the coffee was served hot, i was pleased

cleanliness: yes

tip: coffee is best drink without sugar. if, the coffee is good. and a good coffee usually have an original sweet-like taste. you might taste a lil bit bitter at the beginning but in time, you will learn to love it. learnt this from my former mentor who also a coffee lover.
