Siam Reap: Part 1 - Angkor Night Market, Old Market & Pub Street

Travelista at Siam Reap.

This was our first trip to Cambodia and via road. We left Poipet via mini van and arrived at one of the tourist office 2 hours later.

Deal with the agent for a package we can get for our Siam Reap's adventure and than leave for the hotel.

Around 6pm, we already starving. We headed for dinner before continuing with the Angkor Night Market, Old Market and Massage along the Pub Street.

Most of the shops at the old market were closed. We arrived here kinda late, around 7pm.

Below, the pub street. Tuk Tuk all the way.

At first, we planned to hire a bicycles and tour the city cycling but the agent seems ignorant and prefer to close his shop asap. So, we just left. They had a good bike thou. with basket. Unfortunate for us, that night.

Drawings. Beautiful souvenir.

This is the night market. And, actually, they had plenty night market. Basically, the night market in Siam Reap is a series of shoplots, open air style, selling more or less the same things. drawings, watches, stones, clothes.

Another example of night market.

People here love having BBQ along the street.

Cheap massage. cheaper than bangkok. plus, fee drink.
We had a 1 hour massage and a pedicure. while watching boy before flowers. the girls are very friendly.
Since, we wear scarf. They invited us into a room massage. with comfy bed and air conditioned room.

Outdoor massaging area

The massage room

Fish spa.

Overall, we had a good time relaxing in Siam Reap that night. A very long hour journey from bangkok during the day, ended with massaging and a good meal at night. Tomorrow is going to be another long journey.

oh, btw, we bumped into the italiano guys again that night. hehe..

Dinner @ Yana Restaurant, MBK Bangkok

Our second time dinner in Bangkok. Location, still the same. Yana Restaurant, MBK.
Price: Less than 500 Baht.

Fried rice

Look like Milk Ice Tea.  Forgot what she had for dinner

Fried egg

Fried Mee

Had a complimentary thai milk tea when we first visited MBK. Tourist needs to show the passport to the staff at the International FOod court, and free drink will be served.

Taste great. Sweet and smell good. very nice tea smell.

The food court is also known as fifth food avenue. Visited by many tourist than local. Also served several halal meals. They also had a band performing local and international songs in the centre of the court. Not a bad place for dine in.

Coffee @ Coffee World, Khao San Road

Caffeinated in styles. The only acceptable shop we can had a good coffee, late at night along the Khao San Road.

Other features: Free wifi. Less Crowded since peeps prefer clubs. Air Conditioned.
Tastewise: Average. Cheap coffee. Very light. I would prefer stronger one
Price: Less than 100 Baht. or more or less like many coffee shops in KL
Location: Near McD or KFC.

Mine is cappuccino and Ms N is the Latte

Breakfast @ Cotton, Shanghai Mansion, Bangkok

Our stay in Shanghai Mansion come with a complimentary breakfast buffet. We had a chance to dine in here once before leaving to Cambodia the next morning.

The restaurant, of course never received the halal cert. So, we need to be careful in selecting our choices.

Some of our choices as pic below.

Fruits and yogurt

Juice, Coffee and cereal

The ambiance. Fantastic deco

Baked beans and potatos

Buns and butter

They also had fried rice, porridge, fried eggs, dim sum etc.

Bangkok: Mango Sticky Rice

What we had at the Chatucak market is not clothes, instead the mango sticky rice. The only one we had in Bangkok and the most nicest one.

Very generous of mango and sticky rice. With additional coconut milk coated the rice and some corn. very sweet. too sweet ladies.

Pricewise: Reasonable, around 60 Baht per pack.

We just had it at the bench along the market's street. Pack with people. But too hungry to think about others.

This is the shop. Bigger than the boutiques available here. They had, mango stick rice, thai dessert and also the honey ice lemon tea

I had the honey drink, only 35 Baht. Very cool, sweet and tempting especially in a hot and humid weather.

Bangkok: Coconut Ice Cream

As recommended by our friends, coconut ice cream is a must try items in Thai. So, here we goes. The ice cream from 2 different sellers.

1- A hawker in front of the grand palace. Quiet cheap, 40 Baht per coconut cup. And he gave us 4 scoops of ice cream each. This is the most tastiest ice cream we had in Bangkok.

The second one, we had it at Taling Chan market along the Chao Phraya river. Not as nice as the first one. A lil bit cheaper. 35 Baht. But we only had 1 scoop of ice cream. huhu. plus, the ice cream didn't taste that sweet.
