Bangkok: Part 5 - Taling Chan Floating Market

Our 2nd day in Bangkok. The earlier plan was to charter a car to visit the famous floating market known as Damnoen Floating Market. But since the travelling time is est. more than an hour plus the package offered to us by the agent was not attractive enough, we decided to skip Damnoen. Instead, we headed to Taling Chan floating market. nearer to bangkok town. it was actually located off the chao phraya river and opposite the main bangkok city.

We first took tuk tuk to take us to the nearest pier. but eventually, the tuk tuk is the agent of the travelling agent which tried to make us bought their service at ridiculous price. we left the pier by walking which has consumed us more time. at last, we took taxi at chinatown area that took us straight to Taling Chan market.

This market was not that crowded. More local people than tourist. Plenty of stall selling foods, groceries etc. got one halal shop selling mee.

This area was more like a flea market rather than floating market. got few aunties selling meals on their boat but it still less than 10
Totally had fun eating the coconut ice cream until we missed the boat trip which we first regret. Fortunately, it was not the right boat to us.

Passive ticket counter. Have to ask them first, what time, which boat, going where. Apparently they have several package but yet they still open for special arrangement.

If you dont ask, everyone will be taken into 1 boat that will make a visit to crocodile farm first before continue the boating journey. This trip consume more than 2 hours for sure. Luckily, we missed this boat.

We met 2 Thai girls that were looking for a short boat trip and immediately make friend and agreed to charter 1 boat to take 4 of us to tour the Taling area.

We dont take the upper boat

We charter a small boat

The water was not that clean. Bad smell. i had riding on a vehicle that was not stable. it made me sick. so, I had to take the motion sickness pill to help me stabilise which at the end make me feel so sleepy along the 1 hour trip

More floating and flea market inside the Taling Chan area. This is more real and visited by many local. We did not stop, just pass by the area

Some incident. the boat's fan stripped with plastic and plants floating that area

Some of the landmark to the flea and floating market

We spent about 3 hours here. Than heading back to Bangkok city by taxi. we took orange taxi which rather expensive than pink one. so, advisable take the pink one. cheaper and more clean.

to be continued....
